World Scout Jamboree 1998 - "Is the Impossible Possible?"

In 1988, the Bicentennial year, Australia hosted the World Scout Jamboree at the Appin Scout Park.  As part of the World Jamboree, Thirroul Surf Life Saving Club held a special one-off surf carnival.  It is the largest one-day surf carnival held in Australia.  As part of our Club's commitment to this day we agreed to host and feed 12,000 scouts from all around the World.  It was an amazing achievement by the members of Thirroul Surf Life Saving Club and the wider Thirroul community.  Thirroul Club Life Member, Ross Taylor, has written a book that reveals just how massive an undertaking this was.  The book is called "Is the Impossible Possible?" and sets out the enormous amount of planning and work that went into this event.  The book is on sale at Collins Book Shop in Thirroul and I urge anyone interested in the history of Thirroul and Thirroul  Surf Club to purchase a copy and find out more about this unique event.
