  • Nippers Calendar here

  • Education and Training dates here

  1. If you haven’t already, please renew your membership now via the SLS website here so you can participate in our patrols, surf sports, education and nippers programs. If fees are not paid by 30th September then any access will be removed.

  2. Surf Sports Board and Swim training starts Thursday 17th October at 4.30pm. Training will then run on Sunday at 8am and Thursdays at 4:30pm throughout the season. We have a Whatsapp Group for all training updates, so please ask to be added to the group for all updates.

  3. The first day of nippers is planned for Sunday 13th October - please arrive at 8.45am for a 9.15am start (wetsuits highly recommended during the early part of the season and swim caps and goggles for all ocean swims). We have attached a useful Nippers Calendar to this email with key dates and information.

  4. Nippers Open Day A parent information session will be held after the first Nippers at 10:30 in the Surf Club Sheds. Information on competition carnivals and how they work, parent expectations, what your child will do at Nippers will all be discussed.

  5. Nippers Proficiency swim at 10am - 12pm Sunday 29 September at Corrimal Pool. This allows children to do water activities during Nippers - these sessions are not mandatory (Corrimal pool is heated btw!) and the proficiency swim can be done during nippers throughout the season in Thirroul Pool (not heated!)

  6. We are looking for new patrollers, so anyone who's interested in getting their Bronze Medallion or SRC, please see dates here.

Canadian Youth Team Visit

Canadian Youth Team Visit

The Canadian Youth Team have been spending the last week or so in the area and receiving training from Jeff Wall.  It has been great to see the team here and to see their dedication to Life Saving.  On Saturday morning  (10th August) we held an informal series of races involving the Canadian Youth Team and our own members ranging from Nippers to Masters.  It was a great morning with some keenly contested events.  Well done to Jeff Wall and Sonya Harrison for organising the day.  However, the stars of the day were Abby and Travis Carter for the great breakfast provided.  We wish the Canadian Youth Team and all our members competing at the upcoming World Championships good luck and best wishes.

Vale Phil Watt Snr

Vale Phil Watt Snr

Funeral will be at 2pm on Friday 29th December at Thrroul Catholic Church, with wake to follow at the Thirroul Surf Club

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of one of our Life Members - Phillip Watt Snr.   Phil gained his Bronze Medallion in 1953/1954 and was an outstanding competitor, winning numerous Branch titles and also NSW State titles.  Phil was a member of Thirroul's crack R&R teams of the 1950's and 1960's and won over 100 R&R events during this period.  As a result Phil was selected in a number of Branch and State teams.  Phil was also a great Clubman and held a number of positions throughout his long association with our Club.  Many members of Phil's family became active members of our Club and our thoughts and sympathy are with all of Phil's family and friends.
